After having kids I'm left with a BIG gut. Seems that's were I gain the most weight in now also.
I heard that in order to get rid of it, I need to lose the weight first before toning so that I don't end up with a gut full of muscle.
Has anyone else heard of this or have any ideas for me. Its embarrasing because I look pregant and I haven't been in 3 1/2 years.

My understanding is that you can "spot treat" any area of the body.
This is a common topic on many TOPS groups I belong to and basically what is told is exfoliate, drink lots of water and start saving for a tummy tuck once the weight is off.

Are you joking? exfoliate? Like with a loofah? I know I am NOT looking for plastic surgery....and Im sure most of us aren't..... We are looking for exercises to tone that area....Thanks though

Been their done that, before I got so big. The only easy way is to do lots of sit ups/ Start slow but add more every week. Start your day in the morning with some and just before bed. It will work if you keep building the numbers up GOOD LUCK!!!

Before I got married I used to do at least 100 stomach crunches before bed. Every night this week, I have been thinking this is what I need to do. And I am going to start tonight!! I want to reach my Labour Day Challenge goal and I want to look and feel great!!

but sit ups alone only work if you are at a healthy weight, if you are overweight you will be causing you to be more tone but unless to also have some kind of aerobic exercise then you won't see it.

there is no such thing as spot reduction so doing stomach crunches to get a flat belly simply does not work sure it help tighten the inside muscle but it will not get rid of the outer layer of belly fat , what helps is cardio. this will burn the fat and also eating healthy and drinking lots of water! one a scale of 1-10 1 being starving and 10 being stuffed we should stay between 4-6 on the scale so we dont under eat or over eat .

Well when I used to do my stomach crunches I weighed less then 150lbs. Which isn't skinny, but I would say average. So I guess I didn't have any baby flub, and that's why it worked. Everyone has such great ideas!
