For those that go to a gym...do you have a trainer? How did you figure out what to do and when and for how long? I am new to the whole gym experience and so far have only used the treadmill. (PS does anyone know how to use that silly heartbeat thing so I dont have to keep grabbing the bars?) I can walk a 20 minute mile, at 6% incline....I'd like to do some cardio and some other stuff...maybe some ab and butt work....any suggestions? It's a full service gym at the YMCA.

I don't go to the gym, and now that its summer, I have a heck of a time getting to curves.
But I plan on buying a gym membership come September.
And I plan on getting a personal trainer to at least set up a "system" of what I should be doing. And to keep tabs on success.

well with my car accient the doctor wants me to go to the leisure centre. i have never been there before, i assume it has the same stuff the YMCA has. He wants me to just do the pool thing. And with ICBC, they had someone from the leisure centre call me to be my personal trainer!! I don't want that, I just want to go there and do my own thing. Maybe a personal trainer would be a good thing??

A personal trainer is a great thing. Alot of people go to the gym and just do what they want. A trainer will actually help you so that you don't lose muscle. You don't want that to happen. He help's you lose the fat. For example I have very week upper body strength due to a bad back and he is helping me rectify that.
I took my first aquafit class the other day. It was fun. I am going to another one today.
